Royal Flush
Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 - all in the same suit. Very rare in 5 hand poker.
A poker player may only have a few of these hands in his lifetime.

Straight Flush - five Cards in sequence - all of the same suit.
The chances of being dealt a straight flush are 0.00154%




Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same denomination, one in each suit.
Also known as QUADS.



Full House
Three cards the same, with another two cards the same.
Sometimes known as a 'Full Boat'
Usually described in the format: "THREE'S full of PAIR'S - eg Jacks full of Aces.
If 2 players have a full house, then the one with the highest ranking set of 3 wins.



Flush
Five cards all of the same suit. The flush with the highest card wins, when comparing 2 Flushes.



Straight
Five cards in sequence with mixed suits. highest card wins, when comparing Straights.

Three of a kind
Three matched cards. Often informally referred to as TRIPS.



Two Pairs
Two sets of matched cards and any fifth card..
If 2 players have the same top pair, then the highest second pair wins.
If both pairs are the same, then the highest remaining card or 'kicker' decides the winner.



One Pair
Two matched cards and any other 3 cards.



High Card
Highest card when none of the above combinations is shown.
